Rutland cheerleaders earn second place at national championships in Dallas, Texas

Won Best Use of Stunts and Superior Showmanship for the Advanced Small Coed division

On Jan. 24 and 25, the Rutland Raiders cheerleading team competed in the National Cheerleading Association Senior and Junior High School National Championships in Dallas, Texas. They finished just 2.06 points behind Radford High School of Honolulu, Hawaii, in the the Advanced Small Coed division, according to the posted results on varsity.com.

The 23-member team was the first Vermont team ever to place in the top three at their New England Championships and was the first Vermont team in 12 years to make it to nationals.

Coach Cara Gauvin, owner of Peak Performance All Star Dance and Cheer, trained the team to perform one cheer routine and one dance routine as was required for this competition.
