Sunday, Jan. 25 — RUTLAND — The Vermont Wedding Association will put on the 29th Annual Rutland Winter Bridal Show at the recently renovated Holiday Inn Rutland/Killington this Sunday. The spacious ballroom offers among the largest square footage in the area and has been hosting events in Rutland County for over 25 years.
Area wedding professionals will be on hand ready to answer your questions and help with your wedding planning. The event features tastes and styles for all budgets paired with state-of-the-art displays and the most creative ideas, offering a convenient and unique opportunity to meet and greet the wedding pros all in one place!.
“Join us for the industry’s top rated bridal shows voted by Brides, Couples and Wedding Professionals! The information we gather shows that Brides/Couples will attend 2-3 bridal shows and will travel more than an hour to attend a bridal show,” said Judy Risteff, owner of Vermont Wedding Association.

Finding a match
“At our Burlington Fall Bridal Show at the Hilton Burlington this past November the Marrow Donor Program had requests from four brides-to-be for them to attend their wedding!” reported Risteff. “These amazing and very generous couples are inviting the Marrow Donor Program to come to their wedding to set up their registration table during their cocktail hour. The premise is, as couples begin their journey together toward a new life, they are often happy to give someone else a chance at a new life.”
The Marrow Donor Program organizers received their first wedding invitation at a bridal show from a brides-to-be who had lost her mom to leukemia. This was a way to honor her mother and include her in her wedding day! One of the guests at that wedding who registered that day was a match and has gone on to be a donor.
“We are pleased to share that we have found a match at four of our bridal shows and at one wedding! Our thanks goes out to all of the very generous brides, couples and their guests who are so willing to reach out and help someone in need,” Risteff added.
The Vermont Wedding Association will continue to reach out to engaged couples and their families and friends at bridal shows to search for donors.
Every day approximately 6,000 patients who need life-saving marrow are searching for a donor match. “We invite the community to stop by and join the registry even if they are not able to attend the show. Registration consists of a brief medical form and a cheek swab. We look forward to seeing you all there,” said Risteff.
