CCV accepts 56 high school students into its Early College program, five from Windsor County

On Tuesday, Nov. 11, Community College of Vermont (CCV) announced that 56 high school students from across the state were accepted into CCV’s rigorous Early College program.

The program provides qualified Vermont high school seniors with the opportunity to get a head start on their college career by spending their final high school year enrolled full-time in college.

Credits are free to participating students and count toward their high school graduation as well.

Each semester, rising seniors are enrolled in an average of four college classes for a total of 12-15 credits per term. Upon completion of the program, each student will have logged in 24-30 college credit hours.

Of the 12 CCV academic centers, 11 are currently hosting Early College students from 26 Vermont high schools. Eight of the students are home schooled.

Five students were selected, all from Windsor County school: Rachael Carlson, Mid Vermont Christian School; Samantha Singleton, Springfield High School; Dejah Lee, Sharon Academy; Katherine Robinson, Hartford High School; and Courtney Allen, Sharon Academy.

CCV serves over 7,000 students each semester at 12 campuses and through extensive online learning options.
