Ten-year-old Vera Rivard named open water 2014 Swimmer Of The Year

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION—Vera Rivard, a 10-year-old swimmer at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center was recently named Northeast Kingdom Open Water Swimming Association 2014 Swimmer of the Year. She shares this honor with Andrew Hyde of New York. She was nominated with eight other swimmers of all ages who had inspirational swims this past summer in Northeast Kingdom events. During the 2014 season, Rivard completed the one-mile course at the Kingdom Swim in July and the 3-mile event at Caspian Lake in August. In addition to the title, she  received entry to  all events in the 2015 season, and an article written about her in the e-magazine “The Daily News of Open Water Swimming.”
