Local food market owner elected to national retailer council

WOODSTOCK–Woodstock Farmers’ Market’s owner Patrick Crowl has been selected by his peers to join a national trade organization’s retailer council for a two-year term. The Specialty Food Association (SPA) recently announced the election of four association members, which included Crowl, to its Retailer Network Committee. The SPA is a not-for-profit trade association that represents all segments of the $88.3 billion U.S. specialty food industry and member companies abroad. In 2009 Woodstock Farmers’ Market was voted “Outstanding Specialty Food Retailer” by the Association. “The committee’s mission is to build a community of specialty food merchants that facilitates communications and relationships among all constituents in our industry and helps all segments to grow and succeed,” said Ron Tanner, vice president of philanthropy, government and industry relations. “We welcome the new members, who are each outstanding retailers in their markets.” Crowl joins other newly-elected members Trip Straub, Straub’s, St. Louis, Mo.; Pete Marczyk, Marczyk Fine Foods, Denver, Colo.; and Liz Martinez, Bi-Rite Market, San Francisco.
