Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. — RUTLAND — In an expansion of the newly installed exhibition technology, The Paramount Theatre offers the HD experience by adding Live in HD from the National Theatre of Great Britain during the 2014-2015 season. This internationally acclaimed program mirrors the Live in HD from the Metropolitan Opera, and will continue throughout the 2014-2015 Season.
Making an encore broadcast on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. is Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” starring Benedict Cumberbach (“12 Years a Slave,” “Star Trek: Into the Darkness,” “August Osage County”) and Jonny Lee Miller (“Trainspotting,” “Mansfield Park”) alternating roles as Victor Frankenstein and his creation.
Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered “Creature” is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. Urgent concerns of scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil are embedded within this thrilling and deeply disturbing classic gothic tale.
