Saturday, Oct. 25 at 12 p.m. — RUTLAND — Identical twins Brycen and Jaydon Crossman were born on June 7 with an unfair start — they were 15 weeks early, making them just over a pound each, and suffering from twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, an illness that leaves one baby taking nutrients from the other in the womb. The twins were born to parents Corey and Caitlin Crossman, both Mill River Union High School graduates. For months, the family has been in Colorado Springs, Co., where the babies were born, and have remained for ongoing care.
The twins’ grandmothers Rebecca Badgley and Penny Fredette, have planned a fundraiser for the family. On Friday, Oct. 25, a basket raffle will be held for the miracle twins, at Grace Congregational Church, 8 Court St., Rutland. Doors open at 12 p.m., and drawings start at 1:30 p.m. There will be a 50/50 raffle, door prizes, and a special raffle. Items will include restaurant gift cards, hotel packages, car services, cords of firewood and baskets stuffed with local handmade goods. Proceeds will go directly to the medical costs of the twins.
Corey Crossman served four years in the army and two tours in Afghanistan. Caitlin is a nursing graduate from UVM.
