Weston Craft Show to feature several new artisans

Friday – Sunday, Oct. 10-12 — WESTON — The 31st annual Weston Craft Show will welcome several new Vermont artisans over Columbus Day Weekend at the Weston Playhouse on the Village Green. The show will run from Friday, Oct. 10 through Sunday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is $8 and includes free parking.

Abby Dreyer and Ingrid Gitnick are both ceramic artisans. Abby creates one-of-a-kind high fire stoneware clay birdhouses, with great attention to the needs of future occupants. Ingrid has found her passion in creating well-crafted pottery for every day use, inspired by the Vermont landscape.

Nancy McKeegan, the Vermont Mad Hatter, lovingly crafts her warm and stylish hats from wool and faux fur, adding unique details. Julia Emilo creates gourd ornaments that are bound to bring a smile to your face. Each original design is painted free hand with acrylics. Deborah Falls’ botanical paintings are done on hand woven dupioni, using fiber reactive dyes. She strives to capture and portray the sense of beauty and wonder she experiences in her garden.

Mary Angus creates beautiful blown glass perfume bottles and small vessels with graceful form and soft colors in her Readsboro studio. Jen Violette creates unique three dimensional still-life wall sculptures composed of hand blown glass, stainless steel and mahogany.

Jon Meyer’s lighting designs are inspired by the beauty of the interplay of light with veneers of northern woods such as birch, cherry, oak and ash. These allow light to show the color, structure, grain and texture of these species. John Arthur uses copper, along with steel and bronze to create his sculptures inspired by nature. He uses flame to develop the colors inherent in the metal in each unique piece.

Proceeds from the show support the preservation of the historic museums in Weston. Luncheon, catered by the Inn at Weston, is available to show attendees in the Cafe at the Falls overlooking the West River.
