Sunday, Sept. 14 from 4-7 p.m. — KILLINGTON — Moguls Sports Pub will host a one-of-a-kind benefit (and experience) this Sunday afternoon. Most have seen the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS, and many have likely participated in it. Well, this author was recently challenged to a similar type of challenge by Rick Keuhl. It’s call the Pie In The Face Challenge for PMSF and money raised benefit the Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation. Phelan-McDermid Syndrome is a rare disease that his son Chase and other children worldwide have been diagnosed with. The challenge is to pie yourself in the face and donate $22 (to https://22q13.org/j15/). The disease is typically caused by deletion, or loss, of the terminal segment of the long arm of chromosome 22.
As much fun as it would be to pie myself in the face, I thought it would be much more fun for community members to have the chance. To double the fun, I’ve recruited Sal from Moguls to join me!
You’ve seen a pie in the face in the movies and in baseball with a walk-off hit. Haven’t you always wanted to pie someone in the face? I’m sure with my 20 years in Killington, many of you would like to do it to me. How about Sal? Now’s your chance! For only a $22 donation you can pie the both of us. No consequences! It’s a two-for deal and all the money goes to the Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation. There will be other local “celebrities” on hand to pie as well so it will be your choice whom to pie. Pies will be provided.
If you can’t make it but would like to donate and/or have us pie each other in your honor please email djdavehoff@gmail.com. We will give you a shout-out and record it on video for you and the world to see.
So Rick, I officially accept your challenge and I raise it to the community-level!
