Saturday, Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. — WEST RUTLAND — The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center will host SculptFest2014 at its historic grounds on Marble Street in West Rutland from Sept. 13-Oct. 26. Guest curator Sanford Mirling of Middlebury,Vt., has selected twelve participating artists to respond to the theme “When the work stops and it becomes more than it was.”
SculptFest is an annual exhibition event hosted by the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center since 1998. Each year the work produced represents an eclectic blend of materials and techniques, with various insights and perspectives. For 2014, this tradition will continue with new installations and performances by a diverse group of artists including Taylor Apostol, Colin Boyd, Marisa DiPaolo, Kate Katomski and Judd Mulkerin, Evan Morse, Julie Anne Nagle, Alexander Russo, Gary and Erika Lawlor Schmidt, Nora Valdez, Levi Westerveld and Cha Tori.
Artwork has been created in the weeks leading up to the opening reception on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 5 – 8 p.m. The public is invited to view the installations and meet the artists at the event, which will also feature refreshments, live music by Swing Noire and the drawing for winners of the 2014 Fine Art Raffle.
