OBITUARY: Margaret Ellen Ehmann, 86

Margaret Ellen Ehmann, 86, died on Aug. 26, 2014 at her apartment in The Meadows in Rutland. She was born on Feb. 29, 1928 in Baltimore, Md. to Edgar and Mae Baker and was married to her high school sweetheart Preston Ehmann in 1949.

She received her Bachelors degree in teaching from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. in 1949 and taught home economics in Scotch Plains, N.J. until 1953.

She moved to Killington in 1972 with her husband and three children. She was active with the Sherburne Historians and Sherburne Elementary School, and with KPAA as marketing director. She ran a bed and breakfast in her Killington home, managed several rental properties and was bookkeeper for Ehmann Construction.

She moved to Maine with her husband in 1990, returning to Vermont in 2007.

Survivors include her son, William and his wife Carol; a daughter, Donna Housington of Belmont, Vt.; three grandchildren, Camden, Evan and Elizabeth; a sister, Mildred Gormley of Cambridge, Md.; a sister Barbara Pelzner of Reston, Va.  She was predeceased by a son, Preston Ehmann III and a brother, Edward Baker.

A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sunshine Fund at The Meadows at East Mountain, 157 Heritage Hill Place, Rutland, Vt. 05701.
