Aug. 24-25 — RUTLAND — Rutland Youth Theatre holds open auditions for “Stuart Little” and Howard Blake’s “The Snowman” on Aug. 24 and 25.
“Stuart Little,” produced by Saskia Hagen Groom and guest directed by Nancy Manney, is the endearing classic about a mouse (Stuart Little) who is born into an ordinary New York family. The many adventures—both big and small— are brought vividly to life in this story theatre presentation. The acting ensemble plays many human and animal roles in a series of delightful scenes that make up the marvelous maneuverings of a mild-mannered mouse trying to survive in a “real people’s world.”
“The Snowman,” produced by Lakes Region Youth Orchestra, musically directed by Peter Miller, with stage direction by Saskia Hagen Groom, is the tale of a boy who builds a snowman one winter’s day. That night, at the stroke of twelve, the snowman comes to life and the two venture into the night. The boy and the snowman take flight, visiting special places, including Father Christmas. The story’s theme song “Walking in the Air” is the only spoken part. All other acting is done in pantomime.
Audition times for “Stuart Little” and “The Snowman” will be held simultaneously on Sunday, Aug. 24, 3 – 6 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 25, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Grades K-12 may audition. Choose one audition only.
