RUTLAND–David Randall, who has coached at both the high school and college levels, has been named head coach of the Mount Saint Joseph Academy men’s basketball team. He takes over a program that has consistently been a playoff contender and won its last state championship in 2012 in Division II. Coach Randall stated, “I am very excited to be given the opportunity to coach at a quality program like MSJ, with its long tradition of athletic success and proven track record of academic excellence.” He added that his role is “to assist in the development of young men through athletics and to prepare them for life after high school basketball.”
Coach Randall served as Associate Head Coach for men’s basketball at Green Mountain College and then as the Head Coach for freshman men’s basketball at Fair Haven Union High School. The coach indicated his thanks to Coach Tucker of Green Mountain and Coach Prenevost of Fair Haven “for the opportunity to learn under them these last few years.” The coach has a master’s degree in management and leadership from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, and a bachelor’s degree in sports administration from Castleton State College.
He explained that, “this opportunity was especially intriguing to me because I graduated from a small Christian school in West Virginia very similar to MSJ. Small class sizes, individualized attention, and a family-like atmosphere are unique to smaller private schools and that is something that I want to be part of again.”
Sarah Fortier principal of Mount Saint Joseph Academy, said, “I am very excited to have Dave Randall join the Mountie community. His enthusiasm, dedication and passion for teaching young men the skills of basketball speak volumes about his coaching ability. It is sure to be a great season.”
