27 arrested in Rutland drug sweep

RUTLAND — On July 21 and 22, 27 individuals were arrested in Rutland City and the surrounding area for offenses related to drug distribution. These arrests are the result of long term, sustained efforts by law enforcement to reduce the flow of dangerous drugs coming into Vermont, police reported Thursday, July 24.

These individuals will all be arraigned at Rutland Superior Court – Criminal Division.

These investigations were conducted by the Vermont Drug Task Force with assistance from the Rutland City Police Department, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Vermont Attorney General’s Office is prosecuting all defendants in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division.

Additional arrests are anticipated.

Law enforcement at every level in the state will continue to aggressively target individuals trafficking, selling and distributing dangerous drugs in Vermont as part of our continued effort to combat opiate abuse throughout the state.
