Saturday, July 19 at 9 a.m.— WELLS — The 37th annual Variety Day Fair is being held on Saturday, July 19 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in Wells. The Village Park will have 40 vendors offering great diversity in antiques, flea, art, distinctive crafts, collectibles, specialty foods, body care items, various types of interesting plants and herbs, as well as several church tables with different items for sale.
New this year, there will be special presentations on various subjects: The Second Nature Herb Farm will surprise you with much that you may not know about herbs, and even herbs you may not have even heard of. Tim Conwell will take you into his C.W. Wolf business of making Native American style flutes. Made from wood from the forest, every limb or sapling creates its own unique sound; every flute has its own story. Stewart Dittmeier of County Horizon Apiary will present a discussion on the life of the honey bee, and how these tiny insects life can so affect your life every day.
For the young folks, the Sawdust Pile Treasure Hunt will start for the youngest kids at 10 a.m. with older youths to follow. See how many coins you can find! Kids can also partake in tug-of-war, bag race, 3-legged race and several others. Winners will get prizes.
Karaoke begins at 11 a.m. There will be dancing in the street for everyone from 2:30-4 p.m.
Admission and parking are free. The event will go on rain or shine on the Village Green and the Wells United Methodist Church lawn.
