Trail of the Week: “Bubba”

Trail of the Week: “Bubba”

By Tony Accurso

The “Bubba” trail in the Green Mountain Trail system in Pittsfield is a technical freeride trail which descends from “Luvin It” and ends on “Fusters.” This may be one of the most technical trails in area, it is certainly the most technical trail I have ridden in Vermont to date.

The entrance sets the tone, as one must navigate a rocky roller section with a tree stump and flat shelves in the middle to test ones metal. Narrow, steep and raw, “Bubba” is unique and a stark contrast to the fast and flowy trails found in most trail networks in Vermont. Slow speed handling and balancing skills will be valuable in navigating this trail. This terrain requires lots of pulling and pushing of one’s bike. G-outs, quick elevation changes, dips and undulations are common, and consequences are high for mi-steps. Rated a double black diamond trail and recommended for experts only.
