Sheldon Museum invites families to take a road trip scavenger hunt

Sunday, Oct. 18—MIDDLEBURY—The Sheldon Museum invites you and your family to participate in a road trip scavenger hunt on Sunday, Oct. 18. Drive through different parts of Addison County while you follow clues to locate approximately 10 landmarks along the route. You’ll have a grand time with your family while still being safe and following Covid-19 guidelines. The hunt is appropriate for all ages, young and young at heart.

You can choose from two routes: Route #1: East Middlebury to Vergennes or Route #2: Orwell to Middlebury. The $10 fee includes both routes. To register, visit the Sheldon’s website, henrysheldonmuseum.org and click events.

Each route will take approximately two hours and cover 25 miles. Picnic areas are suggested, so bring your lunch or snacks.  All the stops have easy access with places to park off the road. When you stop at each site, use your phone to take your picture with the landmark. Then tag the Sheldon on Instagram or Facebook, @henrysheldonmuseum.

They encourage everyone to go on the Scavenger Hunt on the same day, Sunday, Oct. 18.  A few days prior to that date, you will receive an email with your route and clues for finding the landmarks. Don’t peek at the directions before Oct. 18 — the fun is solving the clues while on the ride!

While supplies last, the Sheldon will present an Addison County poster from the Museum Store to participants who post their photos.  Hope you’ll join on this fun family adventure!

The Sheldon Museum is located at 1 Park St. in downtown Middlebury across from the Ilsley Library.  The Museum, Research Center, and Museum Store are temporarily closed in accordance with Covid-19 restrictions. For more information and reopening updates, visit henrysheldonmuseum.org.
