KILLINGTON — Killington Mountain School Alpine athlete, Spencer Wood competed at the Empire State Games at Whiteface in the IPCAS (international Paralympic committee alpine skiing) series over the weekend, where he took Bronze in Super G, Silver in GS and Gold in SL in extremely challenging conditions.

“The course was more like a hockey rink rather than a race hill. I would have felt safer on hockey skates. The course had been injected for the NorAm this coming weekend, so you had to really trust yourself and your skis. There was no room for error,” Spencer said.

Spencer comes to KMS from Pittsfield, Vt. He prolonged his high school experience with a post-graduate year, during which he is competing, working, and taking some classes, before heading off to college next year. Spencer is now off to Aspen for an IPCAS series and Speed Nationals.
