Vermont Ski and Ride, the only independent publication that serves New England’s winter sports community, has relaunched for 2015 as a free glossy, quarterly publication printed on heavy stock, high-quality paper, along with a new website and social media presence.

In 2015, Vermont had 4.6 million skier and rider visits, making it the second most popular state for winter sports after Colorado. “Our goal is to serve one of the country’s most active and affluent markets: the people who visit or live in Vermont’s mountain towns and ski resorts,” said Angelo Lynn, publisher.

The magazine is being distributed free to more than 250 hotels, ski resorts, cafes, visitor centers and retailers around Vermont. In addition, it is distributed to more than 50 outdoor sports stores (such as REI, Patagonia, L.L. Bean and more) throughout New England and as far south as Maryland.

“More than 80 million people live within a five-hour drive of Vermont,” noted Lynn. “We’re reaching young, active skier and riders when they are on vacation, doing the things they love and have the time and the disposable income to be great customers for our advertisers.”

The magazine is edited by Lisa Gosselin Lynn, the former editor of award-winning magazine Eating Well, Audubon, Bicycling and SKI magazines. Articles in the fall “Season Preview” issue include reviews of Vermont’s new boutique hotels, profiles of local skiers, a story on the history of slope style fashion in Vermont, a racing column and a rundown on the best ways to save on season passes.

“The magazine is the flagship of a multi-platform brand,” said Gosselin-Lynn, who has tapped Biddle Duke, the former publisher of The Stowe Reporter, to write the competition column and Bud Keene, Shaun White’s coach, to write a new coaching column. “Our plan is to grow our new website,Vtskiandride.com, social media and print publication all in tandem.”

The magazine’s four issues will reach more than 250,000 readers with a new edition on stands every other month throughout the winter. The Holidays issue will be distributed from Nov. 15 through Jan, 15, followed by Winter Adventures (Jan. 16 – Mar. 15) and then a special Mountain Summer edition, which will appear at the end of the ski season and then be reissued in June.

Vermont Ski and Ride is published by Addison Press, Inc., publisher of the award winning Addison Independent, the Brandon Reporter, and Vermont Sports magazine and affiliated with partner media, The Mountain Times, Essex Reporter, Colchester Sun, Milton Independent and St. Albans Messenger. The magazine’s editorial offices will be in Stowe, with production based out of Middlebury.
