POULTNEY—Jaime Milazzo, life-long Poultney resident, has been selected to receive the 2015 Poultney Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award.

Jaime Milazzo has done, and continues to do, many great things for the community of Poultney as a volunteer through projects and special events sponsored by many community programs, among them the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce, Poultney Women’s Club, Parent Teacher Organization, Poultney Elementary School, Poultney Helping Hands, Poultney Recreation, Vermont Early Educators United, Poultney Earth Fair and Poultney Community League (baseball and softball).

Milazzo’s dedication is admirable; however, it pales in comparison to her strong organizational skills, charming personality and spirit of volunteerism for the benefit of others.

Milazzo took over leadership of the Poultney Community League a few years ago and brought it from a stagnant program to a thriving one with new equipment and uniforms and a revamped playing field She organized coaches, games, practices, opening day parade, end-of-year banquet, and so much more. She has singlehandedly created a feeling of community within the Poultney Community League.

The Citizen of the Year Award has been presented annually since 1990 by the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce, honors Poultney residents who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service for the betterment of the community and typifies the finest ideals of Poultney citizenship—a real “unsung hero” of Poultney. As the 2015 Citizen of the Year, Milazzo will be the grand marshal of the 2016 July 4th parade in Poultney.

The public is cordially invited to join the Chamber in honoring Jaime Milazzo at an open house reception to be held Saturday, Sep. 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Young At Heart Senior Center, 206 Furnace Street, Poultney. Light hors d’oeurves and celebration cake will be served.
