KILLINGTON — For three days athletes threw themselves down East Mountain Road in Killington on skateboards, competing for the fastest time. The Downhill Throwdown freeride event was back for a third year, featuring high-speed action June 16–18.

Downhill skateboarders and street luge competitors from all over the world came to race down the two miles of pavement, known for its twists, turns and steep grade, where racers can reach speeds well over 60 m.p.h.

“We are thrilled to be back at East Mountain Road, for what our riders believe to be the fastest course east of the Mississippi,” said event producer Marc Dean. “This is a one-of-a-kind ride on a notoriously steep and challenging mountain road, a can’t-miss adrenaline rush!”

Over 100 competitors from the U.S., Canada, Spain, Australia, Brazil, China, and Malaysia participated in this year’s event.
