Local merchants set out sidewalk sale tents along the closed streets of Merchants Row and Center Street in downtown Rutland.
Sidewalk sales, circus, brew festival, and movies highlight the week of activities
RUTLAND — Downtown Rutland is about to get busy with events galore, including something for everyone! The action begins on Friday, July 31 and Saturday, Aug. 1 with the annual Sidewalk Sale Days and Circus. Merchants Row and Center Street in Downtown Rutland will be jammed with sale racks and activities from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Enjoy this open-air market featuring bargains and outdoor dining from downtown businesses plus local artists, crafters, food vendors, kids’ activities and live music. All activities are free. On Friday, in addition to the sales, Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum is offering free entry, and there will be a bounce house set up and cornhole. Friday night features local rock band, Moneyshott, at 8:30 p.m. in the “Parking Pit” on the corner of Center and Wales Streets. The Stafford Tech All-Stars will open for Moneyshott, at 6 p.m.
Saturday is packed with circus performers, carnival rides, bounce house, kids’ activities, local musicians and more great shopping and dining. Music will be playing all day starting at 11 a.m. with Eli King and Heart to Heart Duo; Jim Sabataso and Jenny Porter will perform from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and Steve Audsley and Ryan Fuller will take the stage from 1:30 -2:45 p.m.
Then, on Tuesday, Aug. 4, Rutland’s first annual Hops On Top, Rutland’s craft brew festival, will take place at 5:30 p.m. on the top floor of the LAZ parking deck on West Street. Taste some of Vermont’s craft brews and food catered by Roots the Restaurant and enjoy live music by Joey Leone, while overlooking historic Downtown Rutland. $25 includes eight samples (four ounces each) and snacks.
Later that evening, the Summer Movie Series begins at the Paramount Theatre with “The Goonies” showing on the big screen at 7:30 p.m. The free show is open to the public, and concessions will be provided by Roots the Restaurant.
