Compass Music welcomes honored guest violinist Madeleine Mitchell from UK

Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. — BRANDON — On Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m., the Compass Music and Arts Foundation presents a special event with honored guest, the distinguished UK violinist Madeleine Mitchell. Mitchell, who is generously taking time from a busy American lecture tour to join the Foundation for this occasion, will give a presentation with musical illustration. This is a free event. Guests will learn about the education and community work of the Foundation and will have the opportunity to become a new member and make a donation to support the Foundation’s funding appeal. Current work includes equipping the concert hall with staging, seating, and stage lighting.

Violinist Madeleine Mitchell has been described by The Times, London as “one of Britain’s liveliest musical forces.” She has performed as soloist and chamber musician in some 50 countries and in major venues including the BBC Proms, Lincoln Center and Sydney Opera House. She has frequently represented the UK abroad, including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

This event is part of a U.S. tour which Mitchell has been invited to undertake at universities, including giving a class at Boston Conservatory.

Mitchell’s acclaimed recordings for which she has been nominated for Grammy and BBC Music Awards, includes Violin Songs, released by Brandon-based Divine Art Records, and many award-winning albums for several other major labels.

Mitchell was awarded the prestigious Fulbright/ITT Fellowship for graduate study at Eastman and Juilliard with Weilerstein, Rosenberg and DeLay. She gives master classes worldwide and is a professor at the Royal College of Music, London. She plays on a Rocca violin of 1839, made in Turin.
