Billings Farm announces 2014 “People’s Choice” quilt awards

WOODSTOCK — Billings Farm & Museum, gateway to Vermont’s rural heritage, announces the results of the 2014 “People’s Choice” awards for the 28th Annual Quilt Exhibition held Aug. 1–Sept. 21.

Over 15,000 visitors viewed the exhibition and nearly 2,000 ballots were cast for favorite quilts.

Results

First place People’s Choice Award for large quilt went to “Eye Dazzler” by Susan Damone Balch of Reading, Vt.

Second place People’s Choice Award for large quilt went to “Mid-Winter Dreams of Sun” by Alexander Ambros of Hartland, Vt.

Third place People’s Choice Award for large quilt went to “Gramma Judy’s Flower Garden” by Judy Barwood of White River Jct., Vt.

First place People’s Choice Award for small/medium quilt went to “Dance of the Dragon Flies” by Cynthia Dalrymple of South Royalton, Vt.

Second place People’s Choice Award for small/medium quilt went to “Ruby Red Dots in Wool” by Susan Hall of Hartland, Vt.

Third place People’s Choice Award for small/medium quilt went to “Crop Circle: Stonehenge, 9 May, 2010” by Joanne Shapp of North Pomfret, Vt.

The Billings Farm & Museum is owned and operated by The Woodstock Foundation, Inc., a charitable non-profit institution, founded by Mary French and Laurance Spelman Rockefeller.

Billings Farm is an operating Jersey dairy farm that continues a 143-year tradition of agricultural excellence and offers farm programs and historical exhibits that explore Vermont’s rural heritage and values.  The Farm & Museum has served as a gateway to Vermont’s rural heritage for over a million visitors and 100,000 of the region’s school children. Open daily May 1 – Oct. 31, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekends November through February, and Christmas & Presidents’ Day weeks.
