Woodstock Farmers’ Market celebrates American Cheese Month with local favorites

October—WOODSTOCK—When Woodstock Farmers’ Market planned to celebrate American Cheese Month they looked no further than their own backyard. For the month of October—deemed American Cheese Month by the American Cheese Society—Woodstock Farmers’ Market will feature five award-winning hyper-local cheeses made less than 30 minutes from the market: Plymouth Artisan Cheese, Plymouth (Sept. 27-Oct.2); Vermont Farmstead, Woodstock (Oct. 4-9); Cobb Hill Cheese, Hartland (Oct. 11-16); Springbrook Farm, Reading (Oct. 18-23); and Grafton Village Cheese, Grafton (Oct. 25-30).
Each week one of these fine artisan cheeses will be celebrated in a grilled cheese sandwich special; a 10 percent discount off the line of cheeses; and a tasting demonstration with the cheesemakers on Saturdays from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
American Cheese Month, sponsored by the American Cheese Society, is a celebration of North America’s delicious and diverse cheeses, and the farmers, cheesemakers, retailers, cheesemongers, and chefs who bring them to your table.
“We love cheese, especially from our local cheese makers,” said Woodstock Farmers’ Market co-owner Patrick Crowl. “We are fortunate to be surrounded by many award-winning cheesemakers. Join us now through October as we celebrate amazing cheeses made right in our backyard!”
