Woman accused of embezzling from Lions Club turns herself in

ARLINGTON—On July 6, Mary Kerner of Arlington, Vt., turned herself in to the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury Barracks. Kerner, age 60, of Arlington, was arrested for embezzling $18,560.03 while she volunteered as the treasurer for the Arlington Lions Club between 2009 and 2013.
Kerner had access to a debit card with which she withdrew cash over 100 times at various ATMs for her personal use. The embezzlement was discovered by the newly appointed treasurer in 2015. Kerner is scheduled to appear in Bennington County Criminal court on July 25 at 8:15 a.m.
