The Albany Berkshire Ballet presents its ruby anniversary of “The Nutcracker”

Sunday, Dec. 21 at 2 & 6 p.m. — RUTLAND — The Albany Berkshire Ballet (ABB) will bring its 40th annual touring production of “The Nutcracker” choreographed by ABB Artistic Director Madeline Cantarella Culpo to The Paramount Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The ABB’s “Nutcracker” performances, with lavish sets and scenery designed by theater and movie set designer Carl Sprague, a Stockbridge native, and costumes designed by Rita Watson, Maria Fili, Jan Greiner and Victile Donahue, will feature young local dance students in special children’s roles alongside the professional dancers of the Albany Berkshire Ballet.

An annual favorite, the Albany Berkshire Ballet’s Nutcracker tells the story of a young girl, Clara, and the magical dream she has one Christmas Eve. The performance is based on the timeless tale by German storyteller E.T.A. Hoffman. The Albany Berkshire Ballet has been bringing this acclaimed production all over the Northeast since 1974 and this year welcomes professional dancers from all over the United States, as well as from Brazil and Bulgaria.

Tickets are on sale and available at ParamountLive.org or charge by phone by calling 802-775-0903.
