Seventh annual Stone Bench Project: A functional art program open to area teens

WEST RUTLAND — The 2015 Carving Studio and Sculpture Center Stone Bench Project will provide a two-week intensive training in traditional stone-working methods leading to the creation of a carved stone bench to be placed in the Rutland community.  The Stone Bench Project is open to area teens, ages 13-19, from the Rutland Region and is free to selected students.

2015 is the seventh year of this very successful program. Based on the success of a pilot project in Peru, the Stone Bench Project has continued to engage youth and contributed unique works of functional art to Rutland, Middlebury, Poultney and Fair Haven. The 2015 Stone Bench Project will be offered July 6 – 17, 2015 (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m).
