KILLINGTON — Slippery roads led to a Tractor Trailer accident that closed Route 4 on the west side of Killington at the base of the Sherburne Pass.

The accident happened at around 2:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29.

Lieutenant Charles J. Cacciatore with the Vermont State Police out of the Rutland Barracks described the accident as “serious” and said “the road will be closed for an extended period of time due to the investigation,” urging all motorist to seek alternate routes.

Witnesses at that scene said the tractor trailer was coming down the hill traveling east when the driver lost control and the trailer swung across road blocking all three travel lanes.

An SUV, with what appeared to be New York plates, was traveling west and slammed into the trailer. The specific nature of the injuries were unknown at press time, but multiple ambulances appeared on the scene shortly after the collision.
