Rutland WinterFest continues

Brave the cold and come out for the final events of Rutland WinterFest 2020 this week. On the schedule are indoor and outdoor events for all ages across the city. For more information and complete schedule visit rutlandrec.com/winterfest.

Curling for kids

Thursday, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m.

Giorgetti Arena

Learn all about the fun and unique sport of curling! Volunteers from the Rutland Rocks Curling Club will walk kids through the basic skills and positions on a curling team. Dress warmly, no skates required.  Groups of 4-6 kids (and parents) will cycle through four stations in about 30 minutes.

Human foosball

Thursday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m.

Center Street Marketplace Park

Come play a giant human foosball game in Center Street Marketplace Park! Kids rule the pitch from 2-4 p.m. for free play, adults tournament begins at 5 p.m. Roots the Restaurant will have an ice bar in the evening. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit Come Alive Outside Vermont.

Snowshoe wine tasting

275 Grove St.

Friday, Feb. 21 at  5:30 p.m.

Come out for a moonlit snowshoe over the Rutland Country Club’s lawn. Please bring your own snowshoes as well as flashlights and headlamps. After the hike, participants will  head inside the Rutland Country Club for a wine tasting.

Snow sculpture contest

Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m.

Main Street Park

Watch teams compete in Main Street Park as they carve giant blocks of snow into elaborate creations!

Bring the whole family – kids can try their hand at carving and decorating smaller snow blocks.

Pre-registered carvers will want to dress for the weather, bring carving tools (no power tools), ladders, and means to color sculptures (optional).

Dance for loved ones, little ones

Palms Ballroom, 36 Strongs Ave.

Saturday, Feb. 22 at 4 p.m.

Kids will dance the evening away with their favorite adult and make a memory that will last forever. Get ready moms, dads, grandpas, grandmas, and super special people for experiencing a night to remember with your little ones. Tunes provided by DJ Brett Myhre. Couple/family photos will be taken for purchase after the event.

Chili cookoff

Saturday, Feb. 22 at 12 p.m.

Main Street Park

One cup of chili will rule them all! Sample chili for free while you stroll around Main Street Park during the Snow Sculpture Contest.  Pre-registered individuals and teams will bring their best recipes to the event. Both judges and visitors may try samples and decide who will take home the win!

Prizes:  1st – $500, 2nd – $300, 3rd – $150.

Each chili will list all of its ingredients.
