Rutland City receives clean audit report

First time city has received a report with no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies

RUTLAND — The City of Rutland has earned its fourth unqualified audit opinion with the completion of the FY 2014 audit.  City Treasurer Wendy Wilton presented the audited financial statements to the Board of Aldermen on Monday, March 16, at the Board’s first meeting since the March election.  In addition to the unqualified opinion, Treasurer Wilton informed the Board that for the first time there are no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies noted in the Internal Control Report.

According to Wilton, “This is a significant step forward for the City especially related to our management of federal and state grant funding and how these entities view the City.” She said, “In FY 2007 the city had 27 findings that were material weaknesses or significant deficiencies.  We have been working vigorously for several years to eliminate the findings and we are pleased to have achieved this status as well as the ‘clean’ opinion.”

The FY 2014 audited financial statements are available on the City’s website, www.rutlandcity.org, or by request from the Treasurer’s office by calling 802-772-1800 extension 231.
