Saturday, July 18 — RUTLAND — “You’d have to drive to Burlington to get a show like this!” said DJ Craig Hahn (a.k.a. “DJ Token” in this circle, as he’s in the minority as a heterosexual.) Held the third Saturday of each month since April, The Local in downtown Rutland has hosted a short drag queen show hosted by Amber Stone of Z-97.1 from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., although the actual show lasts only about 30 minutes from 12-midnight to 12:30 a.m., Hahn said.

Last month, attendees saw drag queens dancing in elaborate Disney costumes for the “Sizzling Saturday Twisted Disney Show”— many dressed so well that they were unrecognizable as men under their costumes!

Characters included “The Little Mermaid’s” Ariel and Ursula, Cinderella, Sally from “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” Maleficent, Cruella de Vil from “101 Dalmatians,” Elsa from “Frozen,” Genie from “Aladdin” and Jiminy Cricket.

“Patriotism” is the theme for this “Sizzlin’ Saturday,” July 18, Hahn said. He expects another great show. “I play mostly house music with some good ‘gay classics’ thrown in there, which always get people dancing,” he said. “The crowd is 70-80 percent straight females who come to the show together to be entertained and to have a good time,” Hahn said, adding that this unique offering brings something new to Rutland.
