Road construction report for the week of Aug. 31

Here is a list of road construction projects happening in Rutland and Windsor counties. Most crews will break at noon on Friday, Sept. 4 and be off Monday, Sept. 7 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Please remember to drive safely in all work zones. Lives depend on it.

Rutland and Windsor

Bethel – The bridge on VT 12 has been opened to traffic. No traffic impacts or delays are anticipated this week, but vehicles should note transition bumps at each end of the bridge until the final layer of asphalt is applied on the roadway approaches to the bridge.

Cavendish – Weathersfield – A roadway project along VT 131 continues. Motorists will encounter multiple areas of one-way alternating traffic and gravel road surfaces. A temporary traffic signal between Lindberg Dr. and Brook Rd. will result in some delays.

Please note: beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 12:01 a.m., VT 131 will close near the Glimmerstone Mansion for the removal and replacement of a box culvert. The roadway will reopen at 12:01 a.m.  on Friday, Sept. 4. Signed detours will be in effect throughout the three-day closure period utilizing VT 103, VT 10, VT 106, and VT 131.

Fair Haven – Rutland – Paving operations this week along US 4 beginning at the New York state line, moving east. Motorists should plan on alternating one-way traffic with some delays.

Hartford – Traffic along US 5 continues as one through lane and one turn lane in each direction, 24-hours a day, seven days a week. There are no anticipated traffic delays as crews continue box cutting and building the roadway base along US 5 between Junction Marketplace and Ryder.

Pittsford – Multiple activities for roadway reconstruction along US 7. Motorists should expect stoppages of traffic throughout the week, with speed reductions and delays. Plan on adding a few extra minutes to your travel times.

Putney – The bridge along US 5 at the intersection of Kimball Hill Rd. is open to all travelers. Motorists may encounter one-way alternating traffic as the construction team applies a protective coating on the bridge.

West Rutland – Work at the intersection of BUS 4 and VT 4A will require lane closures and create minor delays this week. Expect alternating one-way traffic and minor delays along BUS 4 throughout the week as paving operations are completed.

Windsor – Hartland – A paving project continues along US 5. Travelers should expect areas of alternating one-way traffic with some delays.
