Donations will be accepted at the door.

The screening will be followed by a discussion and viewer input. Pre-registration for the event is encouraged at www.vermontpbs.org/downton; or participants can register at the door on Sunday, Dec. 6.

“Downton Abbey” premiered in the U.K. in the late fall of 2010 and subsequently in the U.S. under the PBS “Masterpiece Series” brand in early 2011. The series, set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey, depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the post-Edwardian era—with the great events in history having an effect on their lives and on the British social hierarchy.

Principal cast includes Hugh Bonneville as Lord Crawley, Earl of Grantham; his wife, Elizabeth McGovern, the Duchess of Grantham; Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary; Penelope Wilton; and the indomitable Maggie Smith as the Dowager Duchess of Grantham. The “Downton Abbey” senior staff is portrayed by Jim Carter as “Mr. Carson”; Phyllis Logan as housekeeper Mrs. Hughes; Brendon Coyles as “Mr. Bates,” valet to the Earl; and Joanne Froggatt as Anna, the personal maid to Lady Mary.

By the third season of “Downton Abbey,” it became one of the most beloved and widely watched series in the world.

The Paramount Theatre is located at 30 Center Street in downtown Rutland. For more information, visit www.paramountvt.org. or call 802-775-0903.
