Paramount hosts storytelling and opera features on Saturday

Saturday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. — RUTLAND — The Paramount Theatre presents speaker Ken Burns with “Sharing the American Experience” on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. In this talk, compelling storyteller Burns reminds the audience of the timeless lessons of history and the enduring greatness and importance of the United States in the course of human events. Incorporating the Civil War, baseball, and jazz, Burns engages and celebrates what we share in common. Tickets for the evening are $35 to $65.

Also screening on Saturday, Nov. 21 is “Lulu—Berg,” part of the Paramount’s Live in HD from The Met series of performances of the Metropolitan Opera. This week, acclaimed artist and director William Kentridge (“The Nose”) applies his unique theatrical vision to Berg’s notorious femme fatale who shatters lives, including her own. Musically, the masterful score is in the sure hands of Met Music Director James Levine. Soprano Marlis Petersen has excited audiences around the world with her portrayal of the tour-de-force title role, a wild journey of love, obsession, and death. Susan Graham joins a winning cast, including Daniel Brenna and Johan Reuter. Tickets for the screening are $23.
