Outdoor muralists wanted to beautify Rutland city

Wednesday, May 6 at 6 p.m. — RUTLAND — The application deadline for artist submissions to be a part of Chaffee’s outdoor muralists is May 6 by 6 p.m. The theme is “Year of Love.” Sharing art in the community is one way to share love with residents and visitors to Rutland city. Chaffee is looking to add five murals to the city of Rutland this summer during a two week period, June 26 to July 10. Murals can be from 3×3 feet up to 8 feet or 10×10 feet. Murals may be stand alone or combined with others down a long wall.

Chaffee Downtown Gallery will be home base with each muralist having wall space to brainstorm and share mural ideas, and also display pieces of their art. Chaffee will supply the outside walls, paints, student volunteers and applause, plus a stipend at completion.

This is a juried event. Artists must submit both a written and visual statement about their mural ideas which follow Chaffee’s summer of 2015 theme “Year of Love : Love of Community = Action.” One venue will be geared toward recreation and another will be geared toward agriculture. Proven artistic experience is required; mural experience is not required.

Submissions may be submitted by email to info@chaffeeartcenter.org or by mail to Chaffee Art Center, PO Box 1447, Rutland, VT 05701, Attn: Exhibition Committee.
