Okemo collects for food shelves, offers discounted tickets

Sunday, March 29 — LUDLOW — On Sunday, March 29, Okemo Mountain Resort will host its spring Cares and Shares Food Drive. When skiers and snowboarders donate at least five non-perishable food items, their generosity will be rewarded with an entire day of skiing and riding at Okemo for just $39 that same day.

Okemo’s Mountain Ambassadors along with Miss Rutland County Collegiate 2016 Sara Stryhas, will be accepting food and cash donations in exchange for coupons that skiers and riders can redeem for discounted lift tickets at the ticket window on March 29. All donations will go to The Black River Good Neighbor Services Food Shelf.

“We all know what a cold winter it’s been and people shouldn’t have to choose between heating and eating,” said Black River Good Neighbor Services Executive Director Audrey Bridge. “We’re happy to be able to help local families through the generosity of community members and what we’re really focusing on is providing people with better quality food choices and locally produced food items.”

Okemo typically hosts two Cares and Shares Food Drives each winter: one prior to the holidays in December and another in the spring. For more info, call 802-228-1600 or visit okemo.com.
