Saturday, Dec. 14 at 12 p.m.—WEST DOVER—NASA Astronaut Richard Linnehan, DVM, will share his space exploration experiences and challenges, and also discuss how limitations should not be boundaries when he joins Adaptive Sports at Mount Snow for a special event with day and evening programs.
Dr. Linnehan has faced many challenges in his 27 years as an astronaut, including taking four spaceflights, spending 58 days in space and logging more than 42 hours of space walks. He has helped to develop the next generation of space flight exercise hardware and exercises.
The University of New Hampshire graduate, who is also a veterinarian and adjunct university professor at Texas A&M University, will participate in on-snow training with the volunteer instructors and experience the adaptive equipment including bi-skis, mono-skis, and sliders.
The public is invited to meet the astronaut over lunch (bring your own lunch) at Grand Summit Hotel, 21 Grand Summit Way in West Dover.
Then at 5:30-6:30 p.m., Dr. Linnehan will give a public presentation entitled “Adapting to Challenges: What We Learn from Space Exploration,” followed by a Q&A at the Old School Community Center located at 1 School St. in Wilmington.
