Mount Holly woman arrested for possessing heroin in jail

RUTLAND–On Aug. 3, the Vermont State Police responded to the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility in Rutland and arrested inmate Ashley Blanchard, age 23, of Mount Holly, for possession of heroin and transporting a regulated drug into a place of detention.
Blanchard had been returned to the correctional center by the Rutland Field Supervision Unit due to suspected drug use. During the procedural search of Blanchard in the admission area, correctional staff discovered she had concealed a syringe containing heroin in her body orifice.
Blanchard was issued a citation for the violation and will appear in the Rutland Superior Court Criminal Division on Aug. 29, according to the police report.
