Mettawee Community School puts on “Pirates of Penzance”

Thursday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. — WEST PAWLET — The Mettawee Community School invites all to the sixth grade’s presentation of Gilbert & Sullivan’s “Pirates of Penzance” on Thursday, April 23 at the school located on VT-153 in West Pawlet. A free “open” dress-rehearsal will be held at 12:30 p.m. and the free, evening performance is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The comic opera features the story of Frederic, who has turned 21 and thinks he has completed an apprenticeship with a band of not-so-tough pirates. The musical also has a love story as Frederic meets Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley. A plot twist and a sense of honor make this an enjoyable presentation of song and laughter.
