Hike into history at Mount Independence State Site

Saturday, June 4 at 2 p.m. — ORWELL — On June 4 the Mount Independence State Historic Site in Orwell is celebrating National Trails Day with a hike into history. At 2 p.m. Mount Independence Coalition board member and retired history teacher Mark Brownell leads this hike.

This is one of many programs this year to celebrate the 240th anniversary of the start of Mount Independence, as well as the 50th anniversary of the trail system. It is co-sponsored by the Mount Independence Coalition.

Meet at the museum. Wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring water if you like. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children under 15, and includes the museum and all the trails. Call 802-948-2000 for more information.

The Mount Independence State Historic Site is located at 497 Mount Independence Road, Orwell.
