Gift-of-Life Marathon Blood Drive seeks volunteers

The annual Gift-of-Life Marathon Blood Drive, sponsored by Green Mountain Power and WJJR with support from Farrell Distributing and Casella Waste Systems, is coming soon!  This year it will be a four-day event designed to help ensure an adequate blood supply during the critical holiday period in December. Huge precautions, in light of Covid-19, will be taken to ensure the safety of all involved.

Drives are set for Dec. 8, 16, 17, and 18 — and they need a lot of volunteers, especially on Dec. 18.  Shifts on Dec. 18 at the new Rutland Rec Gym, on the former College of St. Joseph campus, are from 10-2, 2-6, or 10-6.  They can also use some help on the Dec. 16 from noon to 5 and Dec. 17 from 9 to 3, both at the Rutland American Legion.

The work includes things like greeting people as they arrive, taking temperatures with a digital thermometer, directing traffic, handing out T-shirts and food, and assisting donors. Want to help?  Contact Steve Costello at (802) 793-4031 or [email protected]
