ASHLEY PRATT

Saturday, Feb. 21 — KILLINGTON — The Fifth Annual Downhill for Diabetes Charity ski and snowboard event will be on Saturday, Feb. 21 at Pico Mountain Resort in Killington. Participants will raise money to ski or snowboard, similar to a donation walk, but Vermont style! You can donate the money yourself, have a business sponsor you, or collect donations from family, friends and co-workers.

The purpose of this event is to raise money to continue funding research and ultimately come up with a cure for diabetes. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event will be donated to diabetes research.

Sign in from 8 – 11 a.m. at the mountain. You must be pre-registered before the event to receive discounts and prizes. Pico Mountain is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and you can ski as long as you would like. Collect donations to be eligible for a half price or free lift ticket, or even a free pass to ski another day this season! Additional prizes will be awarded for the team, company and individual who raise the most money, as well as many other categories.

There will also be a donation race course set up that you can go through and get timed. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the day for the fastest times.

About the cause

Ashley Pratt was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in October of 2010. Her parents and family started the non-profit organization, Donations for Diabetes, to help spread awareness that a cure for diabetes is within reach. They hope to make a difference by raising funds to help support diabetes research and ultimately find a cure for this disease, allowing Ashley and all the others out there like her, to lead normal lives. Downhill for Diabetes is now in its fifth year, raising funds to support research.

Sponsorships are also available and encouraged.
