Father, son arrested after rash of burglaries

Vermont State Police-Rockingham Barracks have completed the investigation of numerous thefts and burglaries in the towns of Rockingham, Andover, Ludlow, Cavendish, Weathersfield, Springfield and West Windsor. The state police worked with police departments in Chester, Springfield, Weathersfield, Ludlow, and Newport, N.H., as well as the New Hampshire State Police.

Investigation determined David Farnsworth and his son, Michael Farnsworth, drove to numerous locations throughout the above towns during daylight hours throughout the months of October and November to steal property. The property was then sold to support their heroin addictions. Another suspect, Zachary McNeill, also accompanied them on several occasions. Joshua Congdon committed one burglary with Michael Farnsworth. With cooperation, many stolen items were located to return to the owners.

Michael Farnsworth, age 26 of Springfield, Vt., was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor County, Criminal Division on Dec. 29 to respond to 14 counts of burglary, 10 counts of possession/selling stolen property, two counts of petit larceny and seven counts of unlawful mischief. He was also cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham County, Criminal Division on Jan. 12 for five counts of burglary, four counts of possession/selling stolen property and one count of petit larceny.

David Farnsworth, age 59 of Springfield, Vt., was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor County, Criminal Division on Dec. 29 for 13 counts of burglary, six counts of possession/selling stolen property and two counts of petit larceny. He also was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham County, Criminal Division on Jan. 12 for five counts of burglary, three counts of possession/selling stolen property and one count of petit larceny.

Zachary McNeill, age 23 of Springfield, Vt., was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor County, Criminal Division on Dec. 29 for six counts of burglary and two counts of petit larceny. He was also cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham County, Criminal Division on Jan. 12 for one count of burglary.

Joshua Congdon, age 36 of N. Springfield, Vt., was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor County, Criminal Division on Jan. 19 for one count of burglary.

Rockingham: Parker Hill Road, Osgood Road, Coburn Hill Road

Cavendish: Cavendish Gulf Road

West Windsor: Shattuck Hill Road, Silver Hill Road
