Fair Haven Concerts in the Park welcomes big band sound of Enerjazz

Thursday, July 28 — FAIR HAVEN — The Big Band sound of Enerjazz will be joining us in the park for the fifth of eight Fair Haven Concerts in the Park on Thursday, July 28. Enerjazz was established in 2008 and their first concert was in Fair Haven! It is always a pleasure to invite them back to the stage. This band plays music from the big band era as well as music of today.

The 17 members of EnerJazz, Vermont’s high energy big band, are dedicated to playing favorite hits of the Swing Era in their original style, using the original arrangements whenever possible. In addition to the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller and others, the band’s repertoire also includes arrangements by contemporary big bands from Maynard Ferguson to Gordon Goodwin and jazz interpretations of popular tunes from other genres. The band includes sax players Harry Drum, Jeff Rusiik, Steve Sawyer, Mike Lenox, and Jen Murdoch. On trombones are Paul Sutherland, Bill Brislin, Todd Jonz, and Glen Giles. Trumpet players are Cameron Wescott, Dave McKenzie, Mike Durkee, and Rusty Wescott.

Other members of the band are Micheal Corn on guitar, Rob Zollman on percussion, Ellen Sutherland on bass, Bruce Cohen on piano, and vocalist Martha Welch.

Whether you’re up on your feet and dancing or just tapping your toes and listening, you’ll undoubtedly be entertained by this group of hard-working, fun-loving musicians. You’re invited to visit the band’s website Enerjazz.net and Facebook page, where you’ll get an opportunity to meet up with the members of the band and chat about the music they love to play. You’ll also find videos of the band in action.

This year, the Congregational Church at the north end of the park has opened its doors to serve as a rain location. To learn if the concert has to move indoors, you can call the hotline at (802)265-3010 ext. * (the star key on your dial pad). We thank the Congregational Church for its hospitality once again.

Back this year are the door prize drawings at intermission. 50/50 tickets will be sold, and we have hot dogs, popcorn, water, and sodas for purchase as well. We may have a few free ice cream nights, too. Watch the weekly articles for more information about that, and to learn more about the artists who will be performing.
