Covid-19 testing for active infection and antibodies available in Rutland

RUTLAND – ClearChoiceMD Urgent Care, in Rutland, is offering Covid-19 testing for both active infections and antibodies seven days a week, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. No appointments are needed, but patients are encouraged to reserve a time at ccmdcenters.com/locations/rutland-vt.

Both tests are covered by most major insurances: however, patients are recommend to reach out to their private insurance provider to confirm coverage prior to testing. For those without insurance ClearChoiceMD is offering the test under at a discounted cost under their competitive “our prompt-pay” program. The cost through our Prompt-Pay program is $139, due at the time of the visit, plus a lab fee that is billed separately by Quest ($55 for antibody testing, $100 for active infection testing).

However, those interested in the antibody tests — used to determine whether people have been exposed to the coronavirus — might have  a limited window to get it and ought to know that the results have yielded unreliable results nationwide. Accordingly, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Monday, May 4, it was giving companies that sell the tests 10 days to prove their products work or pull them from the market.
