Community Acupuncture opens in Rutland

RUTLAND—Round Panda Community Acupuncture opened in Rutland on Thursday, Aug. 4. It will be open every Thursday, 4-6 p.m. through the end of the year at the Pyramid Holistic Wellness Center, 120 Merchants Row in downtown Rutland.
Nina Gee, MS, LAc., Pyramid’s new acupuncturist, will be the practitioner in charge of this unique acupuncture experience. At Community Acupuncture, clients are treated on a first-come, first-served basis so no appointment is necessary.
The way it works is that hair-thin needles are inserted into specific points in the body, which helps to release “stuck” energy. This is what facilitates the relief of pain and other symptoms, while supporting the body’s overall ability to heal itself, according to a recent news release.
Round Panda Community Acupuncture Clinic is unique to other acupuncture experiences as it operates on a high-volume model in a community room where clients are given a brief intake, needles are inserted, and then clients are instructed to sit quietly while the needles do all the work. Clients are not asked to disrobe as the points are generally accessed on the hands, feet and head alone, but Nina Gee does request that clients wear loose-fitting clothing in order to make the experience easier.
The fee for service is designed to be affordable so that anyone who wants to try this alternative treatment can do so. Fees are on a sliding scale from $15-$35 per treatment. Clients are not required to tip for services, but can “pay it forward” paying a little extra so that people who need a treatment but can’t afford it can do so.
Nina Gee has practiced acupuncture in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for nearly 15 years before relocating in 2014 to her new home in Vermont. She studied acupuncture and herbal medicine in New Mexico and graduated from Tri-State College of Acupuncture in New York City.
