Cobra gymnasts take first at first

The Cobra Gymnastics team of Rutland is proving diligence pays off.  Returning from the Friendship Classic in Hampton, New Hampshire, the team claimed a first  place finish for the Xcel Gold team and a second  place team finish for the Junior Olympic Level 7 team.

Individual event first place finishes were awarded and included Maleah Jones of Rutland on beam (9.475), floor (9.7) and all-around (36.75), Mia Harrington of Danby on bars (9.5), Neely Turner of Shaftsbury on vault (9.4), Caitlyn Giffin of Shrewsbury on beam (9.3), floor (9.45), and all-around (37.3) and Ana Campos of Pittsfield on floor (9.25) and vault (9.45).

Mid-way through the season, the team has done well in competitions in Albany, New York, Essex and White River Junction.  The 45-member team will travel to Williston next weekend for the annual Green Mountain Invitational.  All nine Vermont club teams will be there for a highly competitive weekend.
