Chittenden celebrates all day long, Saturday

Saturday, Aug. 27 at 12 p.m.—CHITTENDEN—The Town of Chittenden will celebrate  Chittenden Day on Saturday, Aug. 27, beginning at noon. This is the first time in 20 years that the Town is hosting a day-long event. A big parade at 12-noon will kick off the day. The parade route will be from the power house on Powerhouse Road to the soldier’s monument via Chittenden Road and will be closed to cars during the parade.
Opening ceremonies will be held at 1 p.m. at Barstow School. The program will feature live music and other entertainments, a variety of booths and games, and plenty of food. There will even be a helicopter to explore. All ages are welcome to come, enjoy, and see old friends.
At 5:30 p.m. a barbecue dinner will be served with chicken breast, cole slaw, baked beans, garden vegetables and a brownie. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Proceeds will benefit the veterans’ monument fund. The Chittenden Public Library will offer free ice cream for dessert. The evening will conclude with fireworks at dusk, around 8:30 p.m.
