LUDLOW — The Black River Academy Museum will hold a chair caning workshop on Saturday, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Museum. The class will be taught by the museum’s Director, Georgia Brehm and the Assistant Director, Linda Tucker, both expert caners. The fee is $60 per person and it includes caning materials for the chair the participant brings to the workshop to cane.

The craft of chair caning was brought to the Northeast with the arrival of the Colonists who preferred the bark of black or brown ash. Today, rattan is the most common caning material and will be used in the workshop.

To register, call 802-228-5050 or email, glbrehm@tds.net. A list of simple items that the participant needs to bring will be supplied when registering. Class size is limited.

The Museum is located at 14 High Street, Ludlow.  For more info, visit bramvt.org.
